Endorsements

I’m proud to be endorsed by:

Wake County Democratic Party – Fight for a brighter, more equal future. They believe in robust community input; fair and transparent government practices; sustainable growth and infrastructure planning; free public transit; inclusive economic development; a woman’s right to choose; and environmental protection and conservation of natural resources.

The News & Observer – The paper is the largest in circulation in the state. It serves the greater Triangle area and is based in Raleigh. In their endorsement decision, they noted the need for the next city council to focus on affordable housing, racial equity, and community engagement.

Indy Week – The Triangle’s weekly alternative paper features progressive news. In their endorsement decision, they emphasize that we must have tough conversations around displacement, gentrification, and the soaring cost of living: “The council could be far more aggressive in negotiating community benefits from developers in exchange for upzoning.”

Sierra Club – One of the most venerable environmental organizations in our country. They have the public interest in mind, promoting conservation of our natural environment. Sierra Club is committed to issues of equity & justice, public transit, food systems, and sustainable land use. As well as climate change & clean energy policy, and healthy air & water quality.

Raleigh Wake Citizens Association – This nonpartisan advocacy organization empowers minorities to protect, encourage, educate, and help residents in their civic, economic, social, educational and political advancement.

Raleigh Professional Firefighters Association – Local 548 protects firefighters’ rights and benefits in the City of Raleigh. They advocate for filling existing vacancies and improving compensation to recruit and retain these essential workers.

Livable Raleigh – Works to honor citizen voices, establish good governance, and celebrate healthy, vibrant neighborhoods. They believe in fact-based decision-making combined with active participation in local issues that affect how Raleigh citizens live, work and play.

NC Police Benevolent Association – Composed of law enforcement officers employed by federal, state, county and municipal governments. They advocate for improved working conditions and compensation for first responders.

Run For Something – Supports talented, passionate young people who advocate for progressive values. They endorse candidates that reflect the changing face of our electorate and are authentically connected to their community. They believe in real people that run grassroots-powered campaigns focused on local issues.

Sunrise Movement – Youth movement to stop climate change and create millions of good jobs in the process. They help to elect leaders who stand up for the health and wellbeing of all people

NC Voters Education Coalition – Through citizen education and grassroots community organizations, they enable African-American and other concerned citizens to increase their power at the polls and address public issues in their neighborhoods.

3.14 Action – Seeks to elect scientists who will use evidence and facts to implement a progressive visions, for example, to fight climate change and fix our broken healthcare system. Endorses trained problem-solvers, STEM professionals.
