Investing in the Next Generation

Wake County Boys & Girls Club operates 10 neighborhood clubs across Wake & Johnston counties to ensure all young people have the greatest opportunity to succeed in school, at work, and in life. One of those clubs is at Washington Elementary School in District D. They equip young people in our community with positive role models and the facilities to learn, grow, and become productive young adults, providing both after-school and summer enrichment programs.

The City of Raleigh has invested in the Boys & Girls Club, providing funding to purchase and refurbish facilities, as well as programming and direct student assistance. I expect we will see more need from vital non-profits like the Boys & Girls Club in the coming years. Federal funding is limited and these organizations need local support. Raleigh City Council is already discussing opportunities to increase the Human Relations Commission budget which provides social service grants. Please keep an eye out for the non-profits you can support. Your time, talent and treasure go a long way.
